Setting off from Quebec at first light, heading for New Hampshire and its iconic Mount Washington, with the Rivian R1S as our faithful, silent travelling companion.

Around 4 a.m., the sky is crystal clear. The trees are beginning to catch fire in red, orange and gold under the first rays of the sun. The cool air promises a perfect day for driving unhurried, in communion with a landscape slowly waking up.

The Rivian changes everything: this impressive electric SUV is as quiet as a bubble – just the breath of the wind. Its instant power makes climbs and curves fluid, smooth, almost magical. You literally glide through the scenery.

The road winds between valleys and thickening forests, with summits emerging through a light mist. The maples explode in vivid colours, lit by a warm morning light. Every bend reveals a new living painting.

On Route 302, it's paradise: long curves through the White Mountains, glittering rivers, wooden bridges, misty mountains. The silence amplifies everything – the rustle of leaves, the lapping of water.

The Mount Washington Auto Road: legendary since 1861, 12 km of dizzying stretches climbing towards the summit.

Adaptive mode handles the ascent without ever straining, all-terrain adjusts traction bend after bend, and regenerative braking puts charge back into the battery every time you slow down. The result: the car climbs with incredible smoothness.
